Delaware Rising FC opened the 2026 NOSL season in dominant fashion Saturday, sweeping a home doubleheader at Buckeye Valley High School in front of an energized crowd.
The women’s team started the day with a 2-0 win over Ohio City SC. Goalkeepers Ella Schwertfager and Sally Patton combined for the clean sheet, highlighted by a huge first-half double save from Schwertfager. Natalie Dye opened the scoring off a great cross from Ella Fuller, while Avery Miller added the second after a sharp one-two sequence with Dye. Fuller was named Player of the Match for her strong all-around performance.
The momentum carried into the men’s match, where Delaware Rising defeated Paxos FC 4-0. Mubelele Mhango opened the scoring off an assist from Keegan White, then added two assists to help Aidan Shepardson secure a brace. Dany Chassin capped the scoring with a goal assisted by Ryan Sommerfeld. Goalkeepers Aiden Miller and Kevin Bollo preserved the shutout, while Mhango earned Player of the Match honors.
The pair of victories capped off a perfect opening day for the club and showcased the growing excitement surrounding Delaware Rising FC. From the players and coaching staff to the fans in the stands, the support from the Delaware community continues to grow each season.
